When Is The Grimm Reapress and the Drearytale Monster Western Release Date?
NIS America will release The Grimm Reapress and the Drearytale Monster in North America and Europe on May 13, 2027. The publisher confirmed the launch date across PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, featuring Japanese voice acting alongside English subtitles.
The Western schedule finalizes the rollout of the localization announcement in September. Nippon Ichi Software initially debuted the adventure title in Japan under the title Shinigami Hime to Ishokan no Kaibutsu on April 30.

What Storybook Puzzles and Gameplay Await Players?
Players navigate side-scrolling puzzle stages alongside a ferocious paper monster named Mär. The protagonist, Mono, seeks a cure for her sister, who suffers from an incurable illness called Paper Mortis that transforms infected patients into storybooks and ravenous creatures.
Mono explores the quarantine facility known as the Libratarium. As she enters the manifestation of each infected girl’s picture book to uncover personal traumas, solve environmental riddles, and overcome specialized boss encounters.
Mär assists Mono by tearing through environmental paper barriers and executing combat strikes against hostile entities. Clearing individual storybook chapters grants Mär traversal powers such as flight and fire breath, allowing players to backtrack into earlier areas to collect hidden rewards.

What Editions and Pre-Orders Are Available?
NIS America opened pre-orders for physical editions on the NIS America Online Store. The publisher revealed a standard Deluxe Edition alongside a collector-focused Limited Edition priced at $90 for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch platforms.
Director Kento Jobana and character designer Sayaka Oda lead the creative team, reuniting key staff behind The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince and The Cruel King and the Great Hero. Takeshi Matsumoto composed the official soundtrack, featuring vocal performances by series regular Akiko Shikata.
